Our October advertising auction was an interesting baptism by fire – Storm Amy was in full flow and hit our venue, a summer pavilion, hard causing a few technical and home comfort challenges.

The internet dropped intermittently and there were lag issues throughout the auction which meant some bidders were unable to participate, but despite these inconveniences the vast majority of lots found new homes on the day, including a flurry of activity at the close over unsold lots.

Most of the unsold lots were moved into a timed auction shortly afterwards with excellent take-up and when the time was up over 220 of the 280 lots were sold, including almost 100% of the tins initially listed.

To ensure we avoided similar issues for the Petroliana auction a number of changes were put into place – the most significant of which was a move from the Pavilion to BARC’s main hospitality suite, a stunning location that proved to be perfect for the event, and which is now our new home for all future events.

The carousel above highlights some of the prices realised from the sale.

Thank you to everyone who consigned, bid and supported us at our inaugural auction and stuck with us through a challenging but important learning experience. Thank you also for your encouraging feedback all of which has been very helpful. We’re glad that the decision to create a high quality catalogue, and the effort that went into its creation was much appreciated and we look forward to moving the bar still further for future events.

Onwards and upwards!
