A circular bronze commemorative plaque mounted on a dark wood backing, produced for the Austin Motor Company. The central relief depicts the Greek god Hermes, also known as Mercury, in a running pose against the numerals 25. Below the figure is a winged steering wheel motif set over a landscape scene. The outer border features the embossed wording Commemorating Twenty-Five Years Association With The Austin Motor Company. At the base, an integral rectangular section is inscribed Presented To H.T.P. Motors Ltd Truro. The reverse of the wooden mount is fitted with a brass label titled Austin Twenty-Five Year Plaque which describes the figure of Hermes as the herald and messenger of the Greek gods and guardian of roads. The plaque exhibits a natural aged bronze patina with areas of surface oxidation.
