A collection of 34 individual colour-lithographed cigarette trade cards from the John Player and Sons Film Stars Third Series, circa 1938. Each card features a portrait of a prominent film actor or actress with a printed facsimile signature, including notable stars such as Bette Davis, Errol Flynn, Vivien Leigh, Fred Astaire, Rosalind Russell, and Basil Rathbone. The cards are mounted in a decorative arrangement against a dark green ground and housed in a dark wood frame with a gold-tone inner slip. The reverse of the frame retains the original front cover of the collector’s album and two informational clippings for actors Conrad Veidt and Anton Walbrook. 22 inches by 18 inches.
