Enamel advertising sign for Hudson’s Soap featuring an arched top and a central shop window clock. The upper section is finished in a deep red ground with yellow arched lettering reading WE CLOSE AT above a white clock dial. The dial displays blue Roman numerals and two black-painted metal hands, flanked by light blue foliate motifs. Below the clock, the wording TO-DAY is rendered in white, framed by two yellow manicules. The lower section features a dark blue rectangular panel with a central yellow and red cartouche. The brand name HUDSON’S is written in white block letters, bordered by yellow tabs reading 1/4 lb Packets and SOAP. Green leaf sprigs decorate the corners of this lower panel and the entire sign is finished with a dark green border. The clock dial is marked PATENT ENAMEL Co LTD B-HAM and includes the registered number Rd 239554. A further registered number Rd 260687 is visible along the bottom edge. The reverse is finished in a grey and white ground with hand-painted red lettering reading DW.
