The central spirit-filled glass tube is set against dual scales in Celsius and Fahrenheit, with the Celsius scale reading from -30 to 50 and the Fahrenheit scale from -20 to 120. The base of the sign features the words Motor Spirit in white italicised script. The reverse has metal wire clips securing the tube and a small white inventory sticker numbered 45569.
