A two-gallon rectangular petrol can with embossed B P characters within rectangular panels to both narrow faces. Both broad sides feature a circular gold-painted BP logo. The top surface is embossed with Petrol Spirit, Highly Inflammable, British Petroleum Co. Ltd., and the Britannic House, London E.C.2 address, alongside Not to be re-filled and Returnable. The can is fitted with a fixed strap handle and a brass screw-top filler cap embossed with the letters B P.
