An approximately one-gallon rectangular lithographed tin motor oil can for Wakefield Castrol XL. The green ground features the brand’s red script Castrol logo with gold-tone outlines, flanked by Wakefield and Motor Oil in red block lettering. The grade XL is centrally positioned in red. One side panel is titled Points Worth Knowing and provides company details for C.C. Wakefield & Co. Ltd., Wakefield House, Cheapside, London, E.C. 2. The opposite panel, titled The Principal Castrol Motor Grades, lists various viscosities including F, CW, AA, XL, XXL, C, R and GP with recommended uses, specifically noting the XL grade is adapted for use with aluminium pistons.
